We were in Croatia from 15th to 29th September, based in Makarska on the Dalmatian coast (about a third of the way between Split and Dubrovnik). It's an ideal place to be based, well placed for getting to some of the off-shore islands and convenient to other worth-visiting places in Dalmatia. The weather was very good on the whole (a couple of dull days during the first week, some rain and thunderstorm during the second). The good days were very, very good indeed, as this shot from our first full day shows. This water slide was very close to where we were staying. It wasn't actually in use while we were there, but it was a wonderfully colourful landmark.
