It was only when I uploaded yesterday's image that I remembered this one from some years ago. I guess it proves that what catches my eye hasn't changed all that much over time. In this case, quite apart from the distant view of the church spire, I was struck by the angles made by the various gables and rooflines in the foregrund. The patterns are intriguing. This dates from Easter 2003, when I went to Vienna on a bit of a musical pilgrimage, going to a couple of operas in the Staatsoper and a couple of symphony concerts too. It was a wonderful trip. Vienna is a city I have to re-visit.

It's funny that you posted this yesterday, Jimbo, because Donica will be in Vienna tomorrow on business. Today she's in Basel! Since I've been to neither place, this pic gives me a feel for what she'll see.
Jimbo: I envy anyone heading off to Vienna. It's a truly wonderful city, steeped in history, architecturally magnificent, oozing culture, and an all-round great place to be.
