My dad had a couple of VW Beetles. Indeed, back in the days when I was beginning to take driving seriously, I used his second Beetle more than he did. That second one was a great car (I think it was an 'anniversary special' model or something like that, so it had a more up-market specification than the norm). I always admired the design of the classic Beetle, and the gradual way in which the body shape evolved. But then I guess it did get to be a bit dated. That when VW really pulled out the stops and brought out the revised styling. Still recognisably the same car, but transformed at the same time in so many ways — a wonderful example of a brand re-inventing itself while still remaining recognisably the same.

This shot began as an attempt to capture the wonderful expanse of evening sky which was reflected in the car's bodywork, but then I changed my mind when I got it out of the camera and decided to concentrate instead on some of the wonderful details of this superb example of motor design.

Nice shot Jim...did you ever try out the "Beetle floats" theory? smile
Jimbo: No, never got that far ;-)
