photoblog image Hands-on with Art
I spotted this young child in one of the grassed courtyards in Trinity College, Dublin. Probably not being able to read the various signs which warn against walking on the grass and touching the sculpture, he obviously found the surfaces of this public work of art irresistible. It's a shame more adults don't do the same.

Nice to see a child being a child smile I can imagine wanting to climb this too!

I agree with Ellie! When did we come to believe that this kind of art should not be interactive!!

BTW, way back in October, Ellie was also the first person who commented on m y site!

Good capture. I find it very frustrating not to be allowed to touch sculpture. If you do touch it you get a feel for how it was made and you know that the artist ran their hands over the same shapes.
Jimbo: I agree completely. I see from your profile that you're a sculptor yourself, so obviously you appreciate how important the tactile element is. I really hate to see the 'do not touch' signs at exhibitions. 'Please caress me' would be so much better.
