This particular tree had loads of character. It looked as if it was one of the oldest of the trees in this spot. Its trunk was deeply gouged, wrinkled like an old man's skin.
Aren't trees with this kind of bark brill. ou can almost hear them groan gently as they outgrow their outer skin, it dries cracks and eventually falls off back into the earth. The ultimate in recycling.
